A 6-Week Experiential Journey Into How You and Your Horse Are Wired

Your horse isn’t being difficult.

They’re being themselves.

And chances are, you are too.

This 6-week dive into Equusology is a training that invites you into a deeper, more accurate way of understanding behavior, motivation, and relationship, not just in humans, but in horses as well. Using an inspired typology re-imagined specifically for horses, you’ll learn how to observe your horse’s natural temperament and how your own wiring either supports or challenges your partnership with them.

Why this works when other training programs may have failed:

Horses are exquisitely sensitive to authenticity, clarity, and presence. Humans crave being seen, understood, and met where they are. When you learn the temperament language of both species, the static drops out of the relationship. Suddenly, what once felt confusing starts to make sense.

In this training, you'll learn:

  • How different horse temperaments express safety, stress, curiosity, and resistance
  • How your temperament shows up in communication, expectations, and pressure
  • Why certain horse-human partnerships feel effortless while others feel perpetually tense
  • How to adjust your approach without forcing change or overriding who either of you are
This is not a method, a shortcut, or a "fix your horse" program. it's a study of relationship. Of nervous systems. Of the subtle, honest conversation happening between bodies long before words or cues arrive.

Participants often report that this understanding doesn't stop at the barn gate. It quietly reshapes how they relate to clients, family members, colleagues, and themselves.

What is the commitment level outside of class time?

Weekly homework will include activities with your horse (or your dog if you do not have a horse). Plan to spend approximately 30–60 minutes per week completing these assignments.

How do I purchase the book, Equusology?

You can purchase Equusology: Deciphering Human and Horse Typology HERE.

Who is teaching this course?

Melisa Pearce is a teacher, author, psychotherapist, and pioneer in the field of human–horse healing. Over the past three decades, she has coached and supported individuals through her private psychotherapy practice and her partnership with horses.

This unique collaboration inspired her to create the Equine Gestalt Coaching Method® certification program. Melisa is also the coauthor of Equusology: Deciphering Human and Horse Typology, written with Carolyn Fitzpatrick.

Will calls be recorded if I can’t attend the live class?

Yes. All calls are recorded and uploaded to your dashboard. You will have access to the recordings throughout the six-week program, plus an additional six weeks after the program ends before access expires.

What is the difference between this online course and the in-person training with Carolyn Fitzpatrick?

The online course focuses on understanding typology and its core components. Each week includes “field study” assignments so you can apply the tools in real life. You will also receive:

  • Assignments not included in the Equusology book

  • A dedicated workbook to track your progress and learning

Carolyn Fitzpatrick’s in-person training provides hands-on, physical learning. A foundational understanding of typology (gained in the online course) is recommended before attending.

During the in-person training, Carolyn will help you type your horse if you bring one. If you do not have a horse, you will be partnered with one on-site to learn and practice Equusology.
